About PicoSure Facial Rejuvenation Treatments
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to stop the negative side effects often associated with the aging process, as well as damage done by the sun. As we age, dead skin cells become more prominent and collagen production diminishes causing the skin to appear dull, creased and aged. PicoSure no downtime facial rejuvenation treatments successfully stimulates the skin’s deeper layers to ultimately improve the appearance of sun-damaged, unevenly pigmented, and wrinkled skin. The patient is then left with a youthful, healthy-looking appearance.
The PicoSure facial rejuvenation process is rather simple: the revolutionary PicoSure laser (the very first PicoSecond laser in the world) is used to achieve maximum results. This laser delivers an ultra-short energy pulse to the skin, producing an unprecedented effect by stimulating the body’s healing response, resulting in the removal of excess, unwanted skin pigmentations. The stimulation of new collagen and elastin is also produced.
Patients typically notice skin improvements after only one or two treatments. However, for optimal improvements, Dr. Schmidt recommends a series of four PicoSure facial rejuvenation treatments spaced 4-to-6 weeks apart.
And, most importantly, following the treatment, there is next-to-no down or recovery time needed! That’s right, consider scheduling a treatment during your lunch hour, and then going back into the office!
Are You a Good Candidate for a PicoSure Facial Rejuvenation Treatment?
Both men and women who ultimately make the decision to pursue this treatment have one or more of the following conditions:
- Skin that is plagued with wrinkles or sun-damage
- Skin discolorations, blotchiness, brown spots, or melasma
- Scars that have ultimately made the skin to appear rough or uneven in texture
Further, as with any type of cosmetic procedure or treatment, the best candidates for a PicoSure facial rejuvenation are those who are overall healthy, have a positive attitude, and are realistic about their expectations.
Consideration for Preparing for a PicoSure Facial Rejuvenation Treatment
Prior to your PicoSure treatment, we recommend avoiding tanning beds, sunless tanning creams and prolonged sun exposure for four weeks prior to your first appointment. We also recommend patients stop using topical retina, retinol or retinoid products 48 hours prior to treatment.
In addition, please be sure to inform our practice if you have any cosmetic tattoos or permanent makeup.
Caring for Your Skin after a PicoSure Facial Rejuvenation Treatment
Following treatment, Dr. Schmidt will give you detailed instructions of how to properly care for your skin. For the best results, and quickest recovery time, it’s important to follow these instructions. For optimal results, we recommend and provide topical products to be used in between treatments as part of the PicoSure series package. The recommended products are chosen and tailored to your individual skin type and goals.
For example, post-treatment, it’s necessary to treat your skin as gentle as possible. If you feel like you need to wash your face, consider using a soft washcloth or sponge, as the rough texture of a normal cloth may aggravate your skin even more. Also, when washing your face, make sure to go slow, and don’t rush the process.
You may feel as if you need to moisturize or comfort the skin. When doing so, make sure to only apply soothing products and creams. In addition, use antioxidants and moisturizers that won’t cause redness or irritation. We recommend that you moisturize 2-3 times per day. However, if you are prone to breakouts or have oily skin, please wait 24 hours before applying any products directly to the treated skin.
Following treatment, it will be normal to want to touch or pick at the skin. Though hard to resist, don’t give into temptation. If you pick the skin prematurely, you will run the risk of scarring your face, as well as creating unnecessary redness.
Fall for a PicoSure Facial Rejuvenation Treatment
So . . . Why is fall the best time to schedule a PicoSure Facial Rejuvenation Treatment?
For starters, following a PicoSure facial rejuvenation treatment, it is recommended to avoid prolonged sun exposure as the sun and its rays can be damaging to your face. During the fall, you are less likely to be affected by direct sunlight.
Further, because this treatment helps rid the skin of sun damage, it’s best to pursue it after the summer months when you are less likely to be spending prolonged periods of time outside in the sun.
Lastly, many patients discover that they have more time during the fall to take for themselves: they’re not going on family vacations, the kids are back in school, and it’s the perfect time to focus on facial rejuvenation to begin the new year with beautiful skin!
